Participate in our seventh annual peeps diorama contest! This year our contest will take place online. Create your own peeps world inside a shoe box, photograph it, and submit it to the library. We will post entries on our social media pages for everyone to vote on. Winners in Family, Kids (grades 5 and under), Teen (grades 6-12), and Adult categories will receive a prize. Exchange ideas in an online discussion about the foreign policy issues facing America today in this monthly discussion led by Professor Gary Midkiff. Participants must purchase a briefing book and read a chapter prior to each meeting. This is an eight month series that will begin in February. One nice aspect of this program is that each chapter stands by itself so you can join the group at any time. Briefing Book $15.00. No refunds.

Grades 6-12. Formerly known as Teen Advisory Board, join this fun service club to help with FOCAL book sales, volunteer projects, and help around the library. During our first meeting, we’ll look through campaigns on dosomething.org and choose one to work on as a group. Participants will get volunteer hours for every meeting attended. Registered participants will receive a Zoom invite and password via email.

On the second Friday of each month, get a themed goodie bag filled with a surprise book to check out, an activity, and bonus items. At the end of the month, keep the activity and return the book! Participants will be emailed after sign-up with a survey about their reading preferences and again when their bags are ready to be picked up. This program is for Cary card holders only.

Take the jitters out of testing and maximize your performance on the SAT or ACT. Take an online practice test under realistic conditions and get a measurement on your performance for free. This practice test is meant for students 9th through 12 graders and advanced 8th graders. Students will want to have a scientific calculator for the math portion of the test that indicates using a calculator. Test provider: C2 in Vernon Hills.
This year we will play Spring Bingo at home. If you get a bingo, you can win prizes for your family. Enter your total group number with one person’s name to represent the family. Limited to 9 families.

Join us for a remote panel all female discussion for ages 12 and up. This panel discussion will include talks on confidence, how to negotiate at a job, negotiating salary, and many questions you may have about being in the workforce now or in the future. Women from many different disciplines, including some in STEM fields, will be speakers. This event is sponsored by the FIRST Ladies of Golden Ratio Robotics. Registration required by March 18th. Cupcakes...in the bathtub? Yes! Whether you child loves or hates bath time, this fun sensory science activity will be a hit with everyone! We will test if wet or dry sponges float in cupcake liners. Top them off with bath foam, and you have cupcakes you can clean yourself with!
